THE NIVKI CAMPUS

The Nivki campus is situated in a quiet suburb away from traffic. It is well resourced and, unique in Ukraine, offers two educational systems: the British National Curriculum; an excellent educational system which provides direct entry into British universities and many others worldwide, and the Ukrainian system, which leads to the Atestat and entry to universities in Ukraine.

THE PECHERSK CAMPUS

The Pechersk campus is situated in the heart of the city. It has superb resources and facilitates, including a state-of-the-art educational IT infrastructure. It also offers two educational systems: the International Baccalaureate (IB), which is considered to be one of the best and most rigorous, equipping students for an increasingly globalized and complex world and giving them entry into the world’s top universities, and the Ukrainian system, which leads to the Atestat and entry to universities in Ukraine.

NURSERY, PRIMARY AND SECONDARY SECTIONS

The British International School Kiev is divided into three separate yet integrated sections: nursery, primary and secondary.

The nursery school accepts children from 3 to 5 years of age. All the nursery teachers are native English speakers and western trained, specifically in this formative stage of development. The teaching takes the form of play, socialization and is designed to encourage communication, understanding and the process of learning.

The primary school accepts children from 5 to 11 years of age. The main teacher in each class is usually a native English speaker and always an articulate English speaker. There is also a skilled Ukrainian support assistant-teacher. The teaching in the primary school uses the latest western techniques designed to promote an inquisitive mind.

The secondary school accepts students from 12 to 18 years. Here the student can choose either an international or a bi-lingual curriculum designed for entry to a western or a Ukrainian university. The international curriculum is taught in English; the bi-lingual curriculum in English and Ukrainian. The two are taught in parallel so that students can benefit from a wider educational environment. At the Pechersk campus the curriculum is an international curriculum but with extra lessons offered to cover the needs of Ukrainian students.

Languages offered are Russian, French and German. Children requiring additional support with their English are offered lessons in very small groups with specialists in EAL (English as an Additional Language).
